2006-2007 Qualification Criteria

Participation in the RYHA S.K.A.T.E. program is voluntary.

Participation is determined by the family of the individual player.

  • Student athletes graded on a numeric, letter grade, or “S” system must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above. (i.e. 2.999 does not qualify)

  • Special education students may qualify with a letter from their case manager stating that they showed above average performance.

  • Home-schooled student athletes may qualify with a letter from their home-school instructor stating that they showed above average performance.

  • Grades will be used from the time period that most closely aligns with the hockey season. (Rogers Middle School and Elementary School student athletes will use second quarter, November 8, 2006 – January 25, 2007, grades; Rogers High School will use first semester)

  • All grades received during the designated grading period must be used to determine GPA.

  • If a student receives an “Incomplete”, an “F”, or an “N” during the designated grading period, he/she does not qualify for S.K.A.T.E.

  • Report cards will be used to determine GPA.  S.K.A.T.E. team representatives will collect the grade information, verify eligibility, and submit the names of the qualifying players and their respective GPA’s to the S.K.A.T.E. Association Coordinator.  S.K.A.T.E., the RYHA S.K.A.T.E. coordinator, and the RYHA team representatives will respect all laws and privileges for privacy.  All information will be kept confidential.

For each class, list the points that correspond with the letter grade.  Add the points together and divide the total points by the total number of  classes to arrive at the GPA.  This formula should result in a number between 0 and 4.333.  If the result is 3.0 or higher, the student athlete  qualifies for S.K.A.T.E..

Satisfactory “S” System
